J. THOMAS

Founder, Chief Executive Officer, Producer

"You really can have your cake and eat it too. There is a power within all of us. A will - a will that turns want into reality. That power enables us to get everything we genuinely want and are willing to work for. That space between the want and the work - is where magic happens. Manifestation is real; it’s the energy we give. It’s why attitude determines outcome. These are real super human powers that allow us to bend the universe to our will. So don't quit. Don't ever ever quit, and keep a good attitude. Cause that thing you're after is always just on the other side of quitting and self-doubt."

Director and Producer J Thomas, originally from Arizona, brings a deliberate and captivating vision to his craft. His first full-length documentary, We The Fans, is an ESPN original docu-series that immerses viewers in the raw passion and deep connections of NFL supporters. The second season (of which he was producing), titled We The Fans: Dallas, premiered on April 12, 2018, with a bold focus on Dallas Cowboys enthusiasts. Over four episodes, the series chronicles the lives of 12 dedicated fans during the 2017 NFL season. The stories are as diverse as they are inspiring—a retired professional baseball player rediscovering community, a newlywed couple from Houston rebuilding their lives after Hurricane Harvey, a 73-year-old season ticket holder who has become a maternal figure to the team, a LGBTQ couple from Arlington living their truth with pride, and a family from Massachusetts journeying to Dallas for nearly every home game. Through intimate and artful storytelling, We The Fans transcends the typical sports documentary, revealing the soul-binding loyalty and humanity behind fandom. In addition to We The Fans, Thomas has contributed to ESPN’s “The 51 Dons,” the remarkable story of the undefeated 1951 University of San Francisco Dons football team, showcasing his dedication to uncovering compelling narratives that resonate universally. Beyond his work with ESPN, Thomas has built a robust career as a freelance producer, cameraman, and editor collaborating with an array of high-profile corporate and celebrity clients. His resume and portfolio includes (2x) Emmy award-winning productions for the Dallas Cowboys (Somos Cowboys & Finish this fight/We Are the Star)  – as well as numerous projects for Rivian, Tesla, Bank of America, Miller Lite, Nike, Sunrun, UPS, AT&T, Ford, Academy Sports & Outdoors, and countless others. He has also captured moments with iconic figures such as Post Malone, Dak Prescott, Conor McGregor, with brands like Red Bull, MTV, and UFC. His meticulous attention to detail and flair for storytelling have solidified his reputation as a creative force across industries. In 2010, Thomas founded A.S.H. Film Productions, a production company rooted in a passion for storytelling and production excellence. By 2024, his vision had evolved, leading to the creation of .STORY | HYPE., the marketing analytics arm of A.S.H. Film. Guided by the ethos of placing “.STORY before .HYPE.,” this new venture embodies his commitment to crafting narratives with substance and style. Thomas’ work is a testament to the power of intentional storytelling—where art meets strategy and every frame holds meaning. His projects don’t just tell stories; they amplify universal truths that linger long after the credits roll.
